What we're looking for
Join our Generative AI team to help shape how AI is used across Argus. We are looking for an experienced Senior Data Scientist with strong hands-on experience in Generative AI and agentic systems. Working alongside other data scientists and engineers, you will help build the tools and data capabilities that allow AI agents to securely access, understand and use data.
A key initial focus will be creating reusable search, retrieval and agentic capabilities that enable sophisticated internal research and automation using corporate data. You will also contribute to the wider development of GenAI capabilities as our technology and use cases evolve.
What will you be doing?
As part of a multidisciplinary GenAI team, you will:
Agentic Data Access: Help develop reusable tools that enable AI agents to securely discover, retrieve and use corporate data, including data held within our corporate data warehouse.
Search & Retrieval: Develop semantic, vector and hybrid retrieval capabilities across structured and unstructured enterprise data.
MCP & Agent Tooling: Build MCP servers, APIs and reusable tools that allow AI agents to interact reliably with data and services.
Agent Development: Develop agentic applications using LangGraph, combining tools, retrieval and LLM reasoning to solve complex research and automation problems.
AI-Ready Data: Work with the team to transform, enrich and index data for effective use by AI systems.
Evaluation & Optimisation: Evaluate and improve the quality, reliability and performance of tools, retrieval systems and agents.
Technical Delivery: Contribute to production-quality Python services, data pipelines and integrations using strong software engineering practices.
Collaboration: Work closely with data scientists, engineers, automation specialists, architecture and business teams to develop scalable GenAI solutions.
Skills and Experience
Strong Python and software engineering skills, with experience building production-quality GenAI applications, services or tooling.
Hands-on experience building agentic applications using LangGraph.
Practical experience developing Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers and tools for AI agents.
Strong experience with RAG, semantic search, embeddings, vector databases and modern retrieval techniques.
Strong SQL skills and experience working with structured data, data warehouses and APIs.
Experience taking GenAI solutions from experimentation through to production.
Practical experience with cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS or Google Cloud and technologies such as Docker.
Strong problem-solving, communication and collaboration skills.
Experience with GraphRAG or knowledge graph-based retrieval, entity resolution, LLM evaluation, enterprise data platforms or Microsoft Copilot Studio would be an advantage.
