The Senior Marketing Manager, Japan is responsible for shaping and executing integrated marketing programmes that drive commercial growth while strengthening Argus’ brand presence in a highly mature and competitive market. The role focuses on elevating client awareness of product value, use cases, and differentiation, translating these into measurable pipeline and revenue impact.
This position owns Japan-specific marketing strategy and delivery, ensuring programmes are locally relevant, insight-led, and aligned with broader regional and global priorities. It requires a strong understanding of Japan’s business landscape, customer expectations, and cultural nuances to effectively engage target audiences across segments.
As a strategic partner to sales, business development, and editorial teams, the Senior Marketing Manager operates with a high degree of autonomy—translating business priorities into targeted, performance-driven initiatives. The role demands a commercially minded leader who can influence senior stakeholders, navigate a matrixed organisation, and continuously optimise outcomes across customer acquisition, retention, and long-term brand equity.
Key responsibilities
Lead the planning and execution of integrated marketing programmes in Japan, driving strong engagement, lead generation, conversion, and revenue impact.
Partner closely with local sales and business development teams to ensure full alignment with commercial priorities, key accounts, and go-to-market strategies.
Translate business needs into clear, actionable marketing plans and campaigns, with a focus on measurable outcomes and ROI.
Localise global and regional messaging to ensure relevance to the Japan market, working closely with editorial teams to maintain content quality and market accuracy.
Build and manage partnerships with key industry events and associations in Japan, securing high-value speaking opportunities, sponsorships, and thought leadership exposure.
Proactively develop relationships with reputable industry bodies and media to expand market reach and support sustained demand generation.
Develop and own Japan’s annual and mid-year marketing plans, ensuring clear alignment with regional strategy and strong contribution to sales targets.
Track and analyse campaign performance, using insights to continuously optimise programmes and improve effectiveness.
Act as the marketing lead for Japan, sharing best practices across the region and contributing to overall marketing excellence in APAC.
What we’re looking for in you
At least 8-9 years of B-to-B marketing experience, with a proven track record of designing and executing integrated programmes that generate qualified leads and deliver measurable revenue impact.
Deep understanding of the Japan market, including business culture, communication styles, and local customer expectations.
Native-level Japanese and strong business Korean and English proficiency (written and verbal), to support stakeholder engagement, content localisation, and cross-functional collaboration across Japan and the APAC region.
Proven ability to partner effectively with sales teams and contribute directly to pipeline growth and commercial outcomes.
Strong analytical mindset, with the ability to interpret campaign performance data and translate insights into actionable improvements.
Experience with marketing automation platforms (e.g. Marketo) and CRM systems.
Solid knowledge of demand generation and integrated marketing strategies across multiple channels.
Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities independently in a fast-paced, matrixed environment.
Interest in energy and commodity markets; experience in oil, energy, petrochemicals, metals, fertilisers is highly advantageous.
Commercially driven, proactive, and detail-oriented, with a consistent focus on ROI and performance improvement.
Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business, or related field.
