What We’re Looking For
We are looking for a highly motivated and analytical Reporter/Analyst to join our agriculture team in Kyiv, reporting to the editor of our international agricultural report based in London. Concentrating on the global grains and oilseeds markets, this position requires a deep understanding of Black Sea market fundamentals, trade flows and policy developments, alongside the broader supply-and-demand drivers shaping international agricultural markets.
In this role, you will generate market-leading intelligence through rigorous analysis, extensive industry engagement and the management of detailed supply-and-demand balances. Your insights will contribute directly to Argus’ price assessments, market reporting and long-term outlooks, helping clients make informed commercial and strategic decisions in an increasingly complex global marketplace.
What will you be doing?
As a Reporter/Analyst, you will be a key source of expertise on agricultural markets in the region. Your work will involve monitoring market developments, reporting on trade activity and price movements, and producing in-depth news and analysis. You will gather information from a wide network of industry contacts, including traders, brokers and producers, to build a clear picture of rapidly evolving grains and oilseeds markets.
While primarily an editorial and analytical role, you will work closely with Argus' Business Development and Consulting teams, providing the market insight needed to support clients and explain the methodology behind Argus' price assessments and indexation. You will also represent Argus at industry
conferences and in meetings with senior industry stakeholders and government officials.
Key Responsibilities
Market Analysis: Monitor and assess global and Black Sea grain and oilseed markets to produce daily price assessments, market commentaries, and long-term analytical reports.
Data Management: Maintain and update supply and demand (S&D) balances, crop forecasts, and export projections for the region and global markets.
Networking: Build and grow a robust network of industry relationships (traders, brokers, cooperatives, and farmers) to ensure constant access to high-quality market information.
Collaboration: Work closely with global editorial desks and provide analytical support to Business Development teams to raise awareness of Argus’ agriculture portfolio.
Expert Representation: Present at high-level industry events and brief senior government officials and executives on global and local agricultural market dynamics.
Content Development: Contribute to webinars, podcasts, and white papers, offering an authoritative Argus perspective on market-moving events.
Skills & Experience
A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Economics, Agriculture, Business, Journalism, or a related field.
Experience in agricultural market analysis is preferred, with grains and oilseeds expertise regarded as an advantage.
Knowledge of the Black Sea agricultural market and an appreciation of broader global commodity trends would enhance a candidate's suitability for the role.
