Working as the Engineering Tech Lead, you will be part of the Technology and Data team, leading a engineering team and closely collaborating with product, quality assurance and other engineering teams to deliver solutions that meet the required business needs, quality, and technical standards.
This role is deeply technical, practical, and delivery‑focused, requiring someone who can both set the technical direction and actively contribute to the codebase.
What will you be doing
Apply strong software and data engineering practices to build scalable, maintainable, secure, and cloud-native applications.
Provide hands-on technical direction using modern architecture patterns (microservices, event‑driven).
Dive into the codebase regularly to solve complex problems, guide design decisions, and unblock engineers.
Ensure timely delivery of high-quality, production-ready solutions with a strong focus on user experience and pragmatic engineering.
Work closely with product, QA, and other engineering teams to align technology choices with business goals.
Clearly communicate progress, risks, trade-offs, and technical decisions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Uphold engineering best practices through code reviews, architecture reviews, testing standards, and DevOps principles.
Promote a culture of quality, ownership, and continuous improvement.
Embed AI, automation, and practical DevOps approaches to increase development speed, reliability, and observability.
Mentor and support engineers in their technical growth, be a visible, approachable technical leader who fosters collaboration and innovation.
Remove technical bottlenecks by providing expert guidance and enabling teams to move faster and more independently.
Stay current with emerging technologies and assess their potential value to Argus.
Identify opportunities to incorporate AI/ML tools, automation, and cloud-native capabilities to improve engineering effectiveness.
Skills and Experience
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
Strong understanding of:
o Service oriented architecture, microservices, event-driven architectures
o Cloud native development with AWS services (Lambda, Step functions, API Gateway, EC2, S3, CloudFormation, CloudWatch, RDS Aurora, DynamoDB, SQS/SNS, Athena etc)
o DevOps practices (CI/CD, infrastructure as code, containerization)
o Applications development
Strong experience of operating within an Agile delivery methodology
Strong experience of delivering .NET/C# and Angular Web Apps (hands-on current experience)
Advocate of SOLID principles and design patterns
Strong databases experience (SQL and NoSQL)
Instrumentation, monitoring, alerting, observability
Strong problem-solving skills, ability to think creatively, combined with a results-oriented mindset
Practical experience with applying AI/ML tools and techniques as an extension of the software engineer’s toolbox
Strong inter-personal and communication skills to collaborate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
