The Consulting side undertakes tailor-made commissioned assignments for a wide variety of clients and across various sectors including oil & gas, chemicals, fertilizers, hydrogen, biofuels and energy transition solutions.
Argus has developed a strong position in many aspects of the global commodities industry and is now seeing an experienced Manager to lead delivery of existing services focused on OCTG & Line Pipe market forecasting. The Market Analyst will be responsible for developing detailed market outlooks and forecasts for the OCTG and Line Pipe segments of the oil and gas industry.
This role requires a strong technical and commercial background, deep understanding of oilfield operations, and the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights for strategic decision-making.
What will you be doing
Build and maintain detailed market forecast models for OCTG and Line Pipe products across key regions.
Analyze detailed drilling and completion activity, rig counts, well types, project pipelines, and infrastructure developments.
Track trade flows, import/export data, tariffs, and global steel market trends.
Identify and interpret market signals, trends, and inflection points.
Prepare and deliver concise, visually compelling reports and presentations for executive audiences.
Collaborate with internal groups; working with Editing, Business Development, and Sales.
Organize and conduct bespoke projects that support client strategic planning, scenario modeling, and investment evaluations.
What we’re looking for in you
Bachelor’s degree in technical area (e.g., Engineering) and a degree or formal training in Business, Economics, or Finance. Master’s degree or MBA preferred.
3–5+ years of experience in oilfield services, tubular products, or energy market analysis.
Hands-on experience with OCTG and Line Pipe equipment, services, and supply chains.
Deep understanding of oil and gas drilling and completion operations.
Expert-level proficiency in Excel. Skilled in database manipulation and integration of multiple data sources. Proficient in data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau).
Ability to quickly recognize trends and establish correlations across datasets.
Capable of transforming raw data into clear, executive-ready presentation formats.
Highly analytical with strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
Excellent listener and communicator who can distill complex findings into clear, actionable insights.
Comfortable working independently and managing multiple priorities.
Experience in tubular manufacturing, distribution, or trading and Familiarity with global steel pricing, mill capacity, and raw material cost structures would be highly beneficial
