The Argus Media conferences division work closely with our price reporting team to put together state of the art, knowledge sharing B2B conferences focused on the commodities markets.
These physical and hybrid conferences are focused on the following speciality areas: crude oil, generation fuels, LPG, oil products, chemicals, fertilizers, and metals. With a global portfolio of 30 conferences and digital products – Argus conferences bring together communities in their respective sectors to network, consume insight and consolidate business relationships.
As a Senior Sponsorship Manager, you will play a pivotal role in expanding Argus Media’s commercial footprint across the global commodities sector. This role is focused on identifying new business opportunities, developing strategic partnerships, and driving growth initiatives for our conferences and digital products portfolio. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams—including marketing, editorial, and product development—to design and execute strategies that increase market share and revenue.
The key to success in this role, is developing an understanding of the energy sectors to tailor your approach to meet the needs of customers and build strong relationships. International travel will be needed, to include sales development trips and managing the sponsor/exhibitor experience at the event.

What will you be doing
Lead the identification and pursuit of new business opportunities, including new markets, products, and strategic partnerships.
Develop and implement growth strategies for the conferences division, leveraging market research and competitor analysis.
Build and maintain a robust pipeline of prospects through networking, industry events, and proactive outreach.
Negotiate and close high-value commercial agreements, ensuring alignment with company objectives and client needs.
Collaborate with the marketing team to design and execute campaigns that drive brand awareness and lead generation.
Represent Argus Media at industry events, conferences, and client meetings, acting as a brand ambassador.
Prepare and deliver compelling business proposals and presentations to C-level executives and key stakeholders.
Monitor and report on market trends, competitor activity, and emerging opportunities to inform business strategy.
Work with product and editorial teams to develop tailored solutions that address client challenges and market demands.
Mentor and support junior team members, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.
What we’re looking for in you
Minimum 3 years’ experience in business development, commercial strategy, or a related field, ideally within B2B events, media, or commodities sectors.
Proven ability to identify, negotiate, and close complex commercial deals, including conference sponsorship sales.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret market data and translate insights into actionable business strategies.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills, with a consultative approach to understanding and meeting client needs.
Ability to work independently, demonstrating initiative by proactively seeking out and arranging face-to-face meetings with clients without prompting.
Highly strategic, with a track record of driving new event initiatives and identifying opportunities for growth and innovation.
Demonstrated experience managing multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced, target-driven environment.
Commercially minded, highly motivated by results, and adept at upselling and cross-selling.
Creative and flexible thinker, able to devise tailored solutions and new options to suit diverse client requirements.
Customer-focused, with the ability to build credibility and rapport both in person and remotely.
Strong coordination, time management, and organizational skills, with meticulous attention to detail.
Proficient IT skills and ability to quickly research and analyze data.
High energy, drive, and initiative, with a proactive, strategic, and results-oriented mindset.
Comfortable making a high volume of high-quality outbound calls and engaging key decision makers.
Experience building and managing relationships through both remote and in-person channels.
Ability to work collaboratively within a team as well as autonomously.
Willingness and ability to travel internationally as required.
