Argus is hiring for an exciting new role overseeing its industry-leading North American oil business. This position sits at the center of Argus’ global business, offering immediate exposure to the key stakeholders in the company and the biggest influencers in the North American oil industry.
Argus is active throughout the North American value chain. We aggregate trade information from the spot markets. We use that information to publish daily price assessments, which we sell to our customers. Customers cite those price assessments in various accountancy functions, and in large physical and derivative crude contracts with other market principals.
What will you be doing
Increase adoption of Argus’ North American price assessments across the physical crude supply chain—from wellhead through refinery, both domestically and internationally.
Protect and strengthen Argus’ position within the North American value chain, from traded spot markets to index‑linked supply contract invoicing.
Partner with internal teams to develop and execute an annual plan to defend and expand Argus’ role in the North American crude value chain.
Conduct regular face‑to‑face meetings with traders and brokers to understand their needs, motivations, and operational realities; the successful candidate will typically meet with 3–4 trading professionals per week.
Serve as the primary “bridge to the trader” for internal project teams, supporting initiatives such as: (1) Launching new price assessments, (2) Enhancing existing assessments in response to evolving market dynamics, (3) Introducing new platforms and related commercial or product projects
Support Argus marketing teams by contributing insights and content for webinars, podcasts, white papers, and advertising that promote the value of North American price assessments.
Collaborate with colleagues in London and Singapore to advance regional and global commercial growth objectives.
Represent Argus during client meetings and industry conferences, partnering with in‑house experts to articulate the Argus perspective on markets and the value of its price assessments.
What we’re looking for
Demonstrated high motivation and ownership; this is a senior, entrepreneurial role where the successful candidate will independently lead a key segment of the team.
Established and extensive network of crude oil traders, gained through experience in trading, brokering, or serving (PRA, exchange, etc.) within the crude oil market. Candidates with 5+ years of experience trading other petroleum commodities (not brokering or serving) will also be considered.
Strong emotional intelligence and the ability to collaborate effectively within a matrixed organization, leveraging multiple teams, departments, and stakeholders to achieve goals.
Strong business and strategic acumen, with the ability to think commercially and drive market impact.
Excellent communication skills, including verbal communication, email correspondence, and the ability to develop clear and compelling PowerPoint presentations.
What’s in it for you
Our rapidly growing, award-winning business offers a dynamic environment for talented, entrepreneurial professionals to achieve results and grow their careers.
