Editor – Marine Fuels
Argus is seeking a dynamic, high-energy editor based in London to lead coverage of our marine fuels service at a time of rapid change.
We usually respond within a week
Argus is where smart people belong and where they can grow. We answer the challenge of illuminating markets and shaping new futures.
We are one of the world’s largest companies providing news, analysis and price information to commodities and energy markets. We report first-hand on what’s happening globally in the energy space – from hydrogen to coal, crude oil to green ammonia, carbon markets to wind farms. And we do the same for economically vital markets in agriculture, fertilizers, metals and chemicals. We employ almost 600 journalists worldwide and have 30 offices in Europe, Russia, the Middle East, Africa, South Asia, China, Japan, Singapore and North and South America.
What you will be doing
Argus is seeking a dynamic, high-energy editor based in London to lead coverage of our marine fuels service at a time of rapid change. The shipping industry and its bunker procurement teams are increasingly focused on understanding and valuing alternative marine fuels such as biodiesel, liquefied natural gas (LNG), methanol, and ammonia that are needed to meet ever more stringent environmental standards. In this pivotal role, you will shape Argus’ global coverage of a market in transition, developing new price assessments, overseeing the existing stable of prices, directing market analysis and breaking news, managing a team of reporters worldwide and conducting regional price assessments as needed. Your leadership will ensure Argus maintains the highest standards of accuracy and compliance, while adapting methodologies to reflect new commodities and technologies.
Collaboration is central to this position, requiring close work with other editorial, production, and data teams, as well as Marketing and Sales. You will foster strong relationships with industry stakeholders, support your team in expanding its network of sources, and represent Argus at conferences and industry events as a thought leader.
As a manager, you will hire, train, and mentor your team, conduct regular staff reviews, and ensure adequate resourcing. Your high-energy approach and commitment to innovation will underpin our marine fuels service as the industry evolves.
What we’re looking for
- A high-energy, innovative mindset and a passion for leading transformative change.
- Ability to lead a global group across multiple time zones.
- Legal authorization to work in the relevant location.
- A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, economics, business, or a related field.
- Proven editorial experience and a commitment to the highest level of accuracy.
- Ability to manage and mentor a team, and to complete all assignments within established deadlines.
- Knowledge of commodity markets, with experience analyzing marine fuels or environmental markets a plus.
- Experience with Microsoft Office (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
- Willingness and ability to travel up to 25% of the time to fulfil the responsibilities of this position.
