Editor - Agriculture
Argus is looking for a highly driven, enthusiastic and analytical editor to join its London-based agriculture team, covering global grains, oilseeds and vegetable oil markets.
We usually respond within a week
Argus is where smart people belong and where they can grow. We answer the challenge of illuminating markets and shaping new futures.
We are one of the world’s largest companies providing news, analysis and price information to commodities and energy markets. We report first-hand on what’s happening globally in the energy space – from hydrogen to coal, crude oil to green ammonia, carbon markets to wind farms. And we do the same for economically vital markets in agriculture, fertilizers, metals and chemicals. We employ almost 600 journalists worldwide and have 30 offices in Europe, Russia, the Middle East, Africa, South Asia, China, Japan, Singapore and North and South America.
What we’re looking for
Argus is looking for a highly driven, enthusiastic and analytical editor to join its London-based agriculture team, covering global grains, oilseeds and vegetable oil markets. These markets are some of largest and most established in the world (cleared trading on exchanges dating back to the middle of the 19th century), and have undergone tremendous changes in recent years: the war in Ukraine, tariffs, trade wars and other geopolitical tensions all work to reshape agriculture tradeflows, while changes in weather patterns raise uncertainties on global supply at every harvest.
The successful candidate will take ownership of the Argus AgriMarkets daily service and lead a team of talented reporters/analysts in London, Paris and Ukraine, as well as help coordinate the work of a global editorial team to deliver this service. This is a fast-growing service, with constant expansion opportunities, and is the flagship report of the Agriculture sector. The report is home to two key benchmarks for Argus: the Black Sea wheat CVB (Constanta-Varna-Burgas) and the RSO (rapeseed oil) fob Dutch mill assessments, both of which are used to calculate the settlement of CME-listed cash-settled contracts. Responsibilities also include close collaboration with Data and Production teams, Business Development, sales and marketing, consulting, and conferences.
The Editor will participate in daily market coverage together with the team, oversee assessments, manage and edit written content, drive the news agenda, keep Market Workspaces updated and improve datasets (D&Ds). The Editor will work with the Global Editorial Manager to identify expansion opportunities, launch new content and prices, and ensure that the methodology is kept up to date.
The Editor will also help to ensure that the team implements new processes and will closely collaborate with other commodities teams globally and create opportunities for cross-desk collaboration.
