What we’re looking for
The senior reporter, India energy policy, will cover news on India’s oil, gas and wider energy market policies and support launch of any India-specific price assessments working closely with London and Singapore editorial teams. He/she is expected to be the first point of contact for India’s energy policies and be responsible for driving on-the-ground coverage from India by maintaining and expanding the contact base, attending key conferences/events in India, and collaborating effectively with Argus’ global offices for India-specific content.
The candidate should possess good writing, numerical skills, plus basic computing skills. Familiarity with global crude oil, oil products, petrochemicals, coal, freight and/or forward markets is a must.
What will you be doing
- Report on India’s oil and gas policies with a focus on markets, trading and geopolitics
- Work closely with Argus’ Singapore and London offices to support and where applicable assess India-specific price assessments adhering to rigorous compliance standards
- Produce a wide range of content, including breaking news, in-depth features and deep-dive analyses with graphs and charts within Excel to illustrate trends
- Act as a thought-leader attending conferences and giving presentations to showcase Argus’ market insights
- Develop and maintain rapport with key contacts within the industry and government agencies, and liaise regularly with industry stakeholders (buyers, sellers, traders, brokers) to gain market intelligence
- Maintain existing databases and build new databases for designated products.
- Provide subject-matter expertise to other Argus departments e.g. consulting, analytics & research
Skills and Experience
- At least 5-10 years of reporting experience at a recognised publication
- High degree of understanding of the global energy markets, especially oil and gas
- Ability to develop, source and write industry relevant news to deadline
- Excellent writing, grammar and numeracy skills
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to network and build contacts with industry executives
- Ability to work effectively with management and meet targets in a fast-paced deadline-driven environment
- Strong co-ordination and time management skills
- Additional languages useful but not essential
- Proficiency/experience working with Excel/Excel-based business tools
- Experience of working to strict deadlines
- Ability to work with minimum supervision within a team structure.

Hours
This is a full-time position operating under a hybrid model, with three days in the office and two days working remotely. Office hours are Monday through Friday from 09:00 to 18:00, with a one-hour lunch break.
